A friend of mine once said that the more you learn about math, the more you realize what you don't know. Or, as the lyrics in the Don Henley song relate: "The more I know the less I understand". This is how I've grown to see my walk with Christ. The more I comprehend about His nature, the more I realize how incomprehensible it is.
This observation provides the inspiration to keep learning more and knowing less. It's the thrill of the quest that leads to new discoveries relating to what scripture teaches us. The thrill of the quest that leads to a fresh perspective on what we think we already know. It's the thrill of the quest that expresses itself in a desire to know God more and more.
Rather than an intellectual persuit, as in high math, it's a spiritual persuit when it comes to the nature of The Almighty. I love knowing that the more I know, the less I understand.

Me too! We never stop being disciples. We must remain teachable and open to new revelation. And what a joy it is! It's so sad when people put their hope and sense of security in their intellect, instead of The Source.
You are right on with your perspective!
The intellect serves its purpose, but new, spiritual revelations are...well...the only thing new under the sun.
